An advocate for Māori language immersion education with over 35 years in the sector, Mike played a key role in the establishment of kōhanga reo and kura kaupapa Māori in Wairarapa and UoW’s Bilingual Teaching diploma.

As the CEO of Te Kura for 17 years, he led the transformative shift of Te Kura to becoming a fully online distance education provider, while spearheading innovative programmes that offer flexible and personalised real-life learning experiences to more than 30,000 ākonga.
