Ko te huarahi e whai nei a Te Aorangi, ko te whakapau i tōna kaha ki ngā kaupapa whakarauora i te reo Māori me te poipoi i te ōhanga Māori kia puta ai he hua ki ngā whānau Māori. Ko tāna, he torotoro i ōna ringaringa ki ngā kaupapa e tutuki ai ēnei wawata.
Te Aorangi lives in Whakatāne. Te Aorangi’s overall endeavour is to make a positive impact in the revitalisation of the Māori language. Since completing his Honours degree in 2019, Te Aorangi has returned to the Haemata team where he has project managed many of Haemata’s projects. Te Aorangi was a student in the first cohort of Te Tohu Paerua o Te Reo Kairangi | Masters in Māori Language Excellence, graduating in 2023. His first book, Ngā Hapa Reo, which he co-authored with Dr Hona Black, was published in 2024.
Te Aorangi is one of the youngest chartered members of the Institute of Directors and is the Deputy Chair of the BayTrust (Bay of Plenty’s community trust). In the past three years, Te Aorangi has been invited to teach at kura reo, translate, edit, and quality assure books in te reo Māori, and has been part of a group of translators working on a range of projects.
